So, after just over 2 years away from the adventure/ultra marathon race industry, Wes Crutcher is bringing us a brand new Multi-day Ultra, based in Fiji!
The ultramarathon race itself is of course going to be extreme, I mean, have you ever tried completing one of his other ultra designs – the Jungle, Mountain, Ice or Desert Ultras? Well, if you haven’t, suffice to say they were suitably tough, extreme, adventurous or any other superlative you care to mention.
The Lost Island Ultra has been designed with all the adventure you can throw a lump of driftwood at, but with the extra promise of something special, to “get you lost”. We hear what you’re saying, getting lost isn’t really the greatest of selling points on a 220km+ extreme footrace, over inhospitable terrain, even if it is in Fiji, right? Right. However, the #GetLost they’re raving about here, is more about letting you immerse in the natural surroundings of Fiji, taking you away from the normal day to day, letting you truly #LoseYourself in what is promised to be the “pinnacle” of your adventure racing life. This race is promising the ultimate escape and challenge all in one.
Wes Crutcher, Co-Founder stated, “We wanted to take our runners on a wild journey of discovery, not just give them yet another tougher than tough challenge. We discovered the “our race is the toughest” thing had been done to death, all multi-day ultras are tough! I have always taken pride in bringing innovation to all of my races, this, probably my last multi-day design, will be no different, we have already released details of our semi-supported format (runners do not carry all of their kit), and you can expect many more surprises and industry firsts as we approach race day, 2nd April 2018!”
Race places go on sale in limited numbers and at a lower initial rate, 1st November 2016, with prices set to rise on January 1st 2017. With so much on offer, we can’t think of a single reason not to be in Fiji for 2018!
The entry requirements of the Lost Island are: The entrant must have successfully completed an Ultramarathon, Ultra Footrace or Multi-stage race (a race with a total distance greater than 42.195km) within 18 months of the event start date.
An Ultramarathon is defined as a running event/footrace with a total distance exceeding the standard marathon of 26.219 miles or 42.195km
THE LOST ISLAND ULTRA
When was the last time you truly #LostYourself? Welcome to the home of the Lost Island Ultra, the race that promises to get you lost, #GetLost
The awesome island course designed by Co-Founder and Director Wes Crutcher is his toughest race yet, and is set over mountains, jungle, beaches and rivers.
You will find adventure, you will reach your limits, you have been warned.
A unique take on the multi-day format, we transport your overnight kit and food each day, whilst you simply carry your day kit. Gone is the need to transport over 10kg of kit each day and in its place, the purest, toughest multi-day test in the world. By removing the need to carry all your kit, we could concentrate on designing the very toughest of races. No stone has been left unturned as we searched the globe for the ultimate race course, in the ultimate location. This race will push you to your limits and beyond. This race, is not for everyone.
